Within January-February of this year, the revenue from excise duties on alcoholic beverages collected to the state budget totals 112.1 million litas, i.e. by 64.7 million litas, or 36.6 percent less than it was during January-February 2008. However, comparison of revenue from excise duties on alcoholic beverages with the corresponding data for the previous period does not reflect the real situation in the market due to the calendar of payment of excise duty: during January-February 2009, excise duty has been paid for 5 decades, and for 7 decades during the same period of the last year.
Revenue from excise duties on alcoholic beverages distributed as follows: excise duty for ethyl alcohol 81.7 million litas, for beer – 17.7 million litas, for wine and other fermented and intermediate products – 12.7 million litas.

Upon considering the changes in payment of excise duty, revenue from excise duties actually received during January-February 2009 compared to the same period of the last year was 129.8 million litas, or 28.4 percent more.
In 2008, revenue from excise duties collected to the state budget was 3 354 million litas. In 2009, the plan for revenue from excise duty is 3 991.85 million litas.
