Honorary Consul of the Republic of Lithuania to Stavanger
The Honorary Consulate of Lithuania in Stavanger was opened in the autumn of 2006. I consider it an honour, as Head of this Consulate, to present briefly the region of Stavanger in the magazine Made in Lithuania and to invite business representatives from both countries to take advantage of the existing possibilities and expand bilateral co-operation.

The region of Stavanger has enormous potential – a diverse and dynamic business environment with highly developed infrastructure. This region, which relies heavily on agriculture and maritime economy, produces a wide assortment of consumer goods, and is one of the world energy industry leaders.

Lithuanian business people are noted not only for their construction of high quality log houses but also as a productive workforce in various sectors of industry in Norway.

Business relations offer the Norwegians the opportunity to become acquainted with their Lithuanian neighbours and learn more about their country.

Our people had the opportunity to become acquainted with traditional Lithuanian food at the food festival Gladmat 2006, which was very popular in Norway. Your cuisine was a great success. Famous Norwegian food critics highly recommended Lithuanian food and Svyturys beer.

Last year the Consulate, in co-operation with DnB NOR ASA, organised Lietuvos investiciju forumas 2006 (LIF 2006) (Lithuanian Investment Forum 2006). This Forum was the perfect place for the Norwegian business people to meet business people and local authority representatives from Lithuania.

I hope that events of a similar nature will improve Lithuanian-Norwegian economic relations and bilateral co-operation will gain speed.

I wish you all success!
